When Do You Need Them?
The Campur aka door gift are small goodie bags that you would distribute to whoever attended your wedding event. It's a small token of appreciation for them in attending your event (apart from the food). Here are all the times you'll need to prepare door gifts for your attendees:
- Berbedak - three types, one for normal guests and one for those who membedaki the groom/bride, one for your dikir entourage.
- Nikah - one type for all your guests.
- Sanding - one type for all your guests.
💡If you are holding a Malam berjaga-jaga event, then your door gifts may be in the form of lucky draws. You can discuss this with your relatives.
Common Campur Categories
Although not extensive, here's a general list of item types that you can go for for your door gifts:
- Snacks - small snacks like traditional kuihs, sweets, biscuits, crisps, bag of rice, etc.
- Drinks - small juice pack, carton juice pack, Milo pack, etc.
- Small household items - bowls, plates, containers, detergent, cooking oil, stationaries, etc.
- Personal care products - nail clipper kit, small perfume bottles, small bags, etc.
- Religious items - prayer beads, sejadahs, telekung, sinjang kain, tikar smebahyang, etc.
💡Anything can be a door gift. Try thinking of something useful and under BND$5~10.
Campur Packaging
Depending on your budget, you can afford to splurge a bit more on custom packaging or you can opt for those "Thank you" green plastics:
- Absolute lowest budget - hawker's aka kadai runcit plastic.
- Low budget - "Thank you" plastic you can get from Happy Star.
- Medium budget - generic paper packaging with string handles (also can be found in Happy Star, Hokko, Sumbangsih, Stationary shops).
- High budget - custom packaging with labelling, you'll need to custom order this from vendors (just search "campur" or "door gift").
- Absolute highest budget - custom packaging + expensive, branded gifts.
💡Remember that people will eventually bin them anyways (unless they're gift bag hoarders). So don't stress too much on this!
